Against the backdrop of abnormal frosts in the Samara region, a series of utility accidents occurred in educational institutions. At an operational meeting in the regional government, it was reported that emergencies had occurred at 10 educational facilities, including schools and kindergartens, during the morning of January 26. Problems have already been fixed at five of them.

Where did the accidents occur?

The list of institutions where pipe bursts or water pipe freezing occurred was announced by acting Minister of Education Viktor Akopyan:

  1. Boarding school No. 4 in Samara (54 Maurice Thorez Street) — water main burst.

  2. School and kindergarten in the Lunacharsky settlement (Stavropolsky District) — freezing of the water main from the well.

  3. Kindergarten No. 58 in Samara (104 Galaktionovskaya Street) — a pipe burst in an apartment above the kindergarten, causing the ceiling to collapse.

  4. School No. 78 in Samara (125 Moskovskoye Highway) — a cold water supply pipe froze.

  5. School No. 86 in Samara (161 Zubchaninovskoye Highway) — a cold water supply leak.

Earlier, 63.RU reported on the emergency at kindergarten No. 58 on Galaktionovskaya Street. This is the most serious incident. 29 children have been transferred to a neighboring building at 63 Ulyanovskaya Street.

«Only the entrance area and part of the wall are damaged, while the classrooms were not affected. The repair, including drying and restoring the ceiling, will take about one and a half to three weeks,» said First Deputy Mayor of Samara Mikhail Malykhin.

Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev separately emphasized that all restoration work will be carried out at the expense of the city and the region, not at the expense of parents. Recall that in connection with this incident, a criminal case on negligence has already been initiated.

All emergency services and utility providers are now working in an enhanced mode to eliminate the consequences of the frost. The governor instructed to continue working in a normal operating mode, as low temperatures in the region are forecast until the end of the week.
