Pipe burst leaves Chernyshevsk district without water

A pipe burst in the Chernyshevsk district has left about 50 homes without water for over a day, with residents told repairs may not happen until next week.

The GRP district in Chernyshevsk has been without water since noon on January 23 due to a pipe burst. This was reported to a Chita.Ru correspondent on January 24 by local resident and municipal district deputy Alikhan Ibragimov, on whose property the utility pipes run.

«We have a cold water pipe burst. Since two o»clock yesterday nothing has been fixed. They said that maybe on Monday or Tuesday they will do it. Are we supposed to be without water for five days now?« a local resident appealed.

Deputy Alikhan Ibragimov said that the pipes on which the burst occurred are on his private property. At the same time, he added that he provided access for repairs: «40–50 houses are left without cold water. No measures are being taken. The utility worker came yesterday, looked, and left. Residents were told to stock up on water, buy it at the store. The accident is on my base, the pipes run there. Everything was built in Soviet times, I bought the base, and the pipes are just lying there. I gave them access.»

At the time of publication, it was not possible to get a comment from district head Alexander Podoynitsyn. The editorial office of Chita.Ru requested a comment from the company JSC Energiya, which is handling the repairs.
