Pacific Fleet Rescues Filipino After Two-Day Water Ordeal

The Filipino sailor was found alone in the South China Sea after falling from his tanker.
The crew of the rescue tugboat «Alatau» of the Pacific Fleet saved a Filipino who ended up in the water. Before that, he had been alone at sea for two full days, the Pacific Fleet press service reported.
The foreigner was found on January 26 in the southern part of the South China Sea during a transit to Vladivostok. The man was lifted onto the vessel and given medical aid, and later he said that he worked on the tanker «S. Grace» and accidentally fell overboard while on deck.
When the sailors arrive in the Far Eastern capital, the Filipino will be helped to return to his homeland.
As the rescued man himself explained, he is a crew member of the tanker «S. Grace» and ended up in the water after falling overboard while performing work on deck.
On December 9, 2025, we reported that a «ghost ship» under the flag of Caribbean Sea states moored at the pier of the Pacific Fleet embankment in Vladivostok — with no captain or crew on board. Law enforcement began an investigation, but the very next day the ship disappeared, and no one from law enforcement could comment on the situation.
