Overnight fire in Yekaterinburg apartment building leads to evacuation

In Yekaterinburg, on the night of January 23, a fire occurred in a multi-story building in the Botanical microdistrict. At Krestinskogo Street, 63, an apartment on the ninth floor caught fire.

As reported by our colleagues from IA «Nochnye Novosti» (Night News), more than 20 people were evacuated from the apartment building.

«Seventeen people, including three children, were evacuated via staircases; seven people, two of whom are children, were rescued by gas and smoke protection service units using rescue devices,» the report says.

The fire area was 40 square meters. No one was in the apartment; the residents left on their own. In extinguishing the fire, 7 units of equipment and 21 personnel were involved.
