Orsk Training Flight Crash: Family to Receive Aid

The family of Yekaterinburg resident Timofey Kurdugov, who died in an air crash in Orsk, will receive assistance. This was announced by Governor Denis Pasler.

“The tragedy occurred today in the skies over Orsk in Orenburg Oblast. A training aircraft with an instructor pilot and two cadets on board crashed. Unfortunately, no one survived,” the head of the region said. “One of the cadets, Timofey Kurdugov, is from Sverdlovsk Oblast. I have instructed colleagues to contact the young man«s family. We will provide the necessary assistance and support to the relatives. Eternal memory to the deceased.”

It is known that Timofey was a graduate of Yekaterinburg«s Lyceum No. 159. During his studies, he participated and won in military-sports competitions. After receiving his diploma, he worked part-time as a tutor in physics and mathematics. Moreover, the young man enrolled in the St. Petersburg Institute of Civil Aviation to train as a civil aviation pilot.
According to the investigation, on the morning of February 2, a Diamond light training aircraft made a hard landing near the village of Dzhanatalap. The aircraft was on a training flight, but after gaining altitude, it began to descend sharply and crashed into a field. The aircraft sustained serious damage. Unfortunately, the people did not survive.
The Transport Investigative Committee has already initiated a criminal case under Part 3 of Article 263 of the Russian Criminal Code, “Violation of safety rules for the movement and operation of air transport by a person, due to the work performed, resulting in the death of two or more persons through negligence.”
Currently, several versions of the incident are being considered: pilot error or technical malfunctions of the aircraft.
The Diamond crash was commented on by Rosaviatsiya (the Federal Air Transport Agency). After the emergency in Orsk, a pre-investigation check is being conducted.
