Omsk Resident Fined for Posting Banned Symbol Online

A court in Omsk has fined a local resident for publishing banned extremist symbolism online.

An Omsk resident was found guilty of publishing prohibited symbolism. On January 30, the Leningrad District Court considered the case of an administrative offense. Information about this was published on the court«s official website.

Police officers found that the Omsk resident, using his computer, published online an image of an inverted five-pointed star (pentagram) with two rays pointing upward. This symbol belongs to the «International Satanist Movement»*, which is recognized as an extremist organization.

‘In the court session, he admitted guilt in committing the administrative offense. By the court«s ruling, the citizen was found guilty of committing an offense under Part 1, Article 20.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, and subjected to an administrative penalty in the form of an administrative fine of 2000 rubles (approximately $22 at current rates).’

The ruling has not yet entered into legal force.

Earlier, NGS55.RU reported that an Omsk resident was sent to a colony in absentia for treason.

*The «International Satanist Movement»/Satanism is recognized as an extremist organization, whose activities are prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation.
