Two residents of Omsk region died in a fire that occurred last night in Turgenyevka village, Kalachinsky district. According to the regional Investigative Committee, during the fire in a dilapidated house on Shkolnaya Street, a 93-year-old woman and her 69-year-old son perished.
Investigators determined that the cause of the fire might have been a malfunction of a homemade electric heater. They reached this conclusion after examining the scene of the tragedy and interviewing witnesses.
«During the investigation, all circumstances and causes of the incident will be clarified, and based on the results, a procedural decision will be made,» the Investigative Committee specified.
The Investigative Committee reminded residents of Omsk of the need to strictly adhere to fire safety rules when using household electrical appliances.
Earlier we reported on a major fire that occurred this morning in the Kuzminki microdistrict. As a result of the emergency, five people were injured, one of whom suffered 85% body burns.
