Novosibirsk man steals friend's car, loses control repeatedly
The man was placed under a travel restriction order as a preventive measure.
In Novosibirsk, police detained a 22-year-old man suspected of car theft. The crime was reported to police on January 24 by a local resident. This was reported by the press service of the regional Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (GU MVD).
The BYD MG 5 car was stolen from a parking lot near a house on Obedineniya Street. During the investigation, police established that an acquaintance of the car owner was involved in the theft.
It turned out that the day before, the men had been drinking alcohol together. When the car owner fell asleep, his acquaintance decided to use the car without permission. During the drive, he lost control several times and damaged the vehicle.
The stolen car was found and returned to the owner.
A criminal case has been initiated over the theft under the article «Illegal possession of a car or other vehicle without intent to steal» (Part 1 of Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The detained person has been placed under a travel restriction order as a preventive measure.
On Obedineniya Street another unusual theft occurred: a Novosibirsk man started someone else«s Audi by installing his own battery in it.
