Novosibirsk firefighters save family from blaze, father injured

EMERCOM personnel gave a rescue bear to a child to help cope with stress following the blaze.
Firefighters rescued a father and his seven-year-old daughter from a fire in a multi-story building on Boris Bogatkov Street. The fire occurred early in the morning on February 2, according to the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for Novosibirsk Region.
According to the department, the blaze started in a first-floor apartment. The father and daughter were on the balcony, and rescuers evacuated them.
“The man suffered burns and was hospitalized by medics. The girl was not injured. To provide emergency psychological assistance, Russian EMERCOM staff gave the child a rescue bear toy. This helped divert the girl«s attention from the stress she had just experienced,” EMERCOM added.
Fifteen people evacuated from the entranceway on their own, and firefighters extinguished the open flame within 18 minutes.
Recall that earlier, five teenagers died in a fire in Kemerovo Region.
