Novomoskovsk Workshop Explosion After Unheeded Alarm Injures Two

In Novomoskovsk, Russia, the investigation into a criminal case has been completed following a serious incident at one of the local enterprises. The foreman of the preparation section will face trial.
According to the investigation, on June 6, 2025, an alarm was triggered in the workshop — the first threshold for exceeding the permissible concentration of hazardous substances in the work area air was recorded. An audible warning sounded, but the foreman, as investigators believe, did not inform management about the emerging threat and did not take measures to ensure employee safety.
Soon after, a steam-air mixture ignited with a pop. As a result, two female workers from the brigade were injured — both sustained serious harm to their health.
The woman is charged under Part 1, Article 143 of the Russian Criminal Code — violation of labor safety requirements, which through negligence caused serious harm to a person«s health. The article»s sanction provides for up to one year of imprisonment, as well as possible fines and other penalties.
