Norilsk girls discharged after infant starvation death

The children will not be returned to this apartment — now they are in a special institution.
Two girls in Norilsk, who were nearly condemned to starve to death by their mother, have been discharged from the hospital in satisfactory condition. This was reported to NGS24.RU correspondent by the regional Ministry of Health.
Another NGS24.RU source clarified that the one-year-old and two-year-old girls have been moved to a Norilsk orphanage. Recall that their older 15-year-old sister is already there.
Moreover, it turned out that the girls do have relatives — their grandmother is already processing documents to take the children.
Recall that in December 2025, we reported a horrific story from the north of the region. There, a mother of many children was starving her four children. One of them — a five-month-old boy — died. Law enforcement found the child in the apartment with signs of severe exhaustion and dehydration. Two girls were placed in the hospital in critical condition.
As investigators found out, the 35-year-old Norilsk woman could be absent from home for many days. In her place, her 15-year-old daughter cared for the younger ones.
The woman has been charged with the murder of a minor, committed with particular cruelty. Until February 17, 2026, the Norilsk woman will be in a pre-trial detention center. She faces up to 20 years in prison. As part of the criminal investigation, the 15-year-old girl, who was with the babies all three days, was also interrogated — she explained that her mother leaving home for a long time is not the first time.
