Nizhnekamsk Authorities Assess Lyceum's Actions After Teen Stabbing

Teachers at Lyceum No. 37 in Nizhnekamsk, where a teenager today attacked a cleaner with a knife, acted promptly and in full accordance with instructions, according to the city mayor«s press secretary.

«As soon as the incident became known, the deputy director announced the alarm »Zarya« over the radio and informed the lyceum director about what happened,» the press secretary reported in her Telegram channel.

The staff along with students took shelter in classrooms upon the alarm signal, barricaded the doors, and remained in safe places until the arrival of special services. Security called the National Guard of Russia (Rosgvardiya) and other services.

«Regarding security at the lyceum — the institution is classified as a first-category protection object. A stationary metal detector frame is installed at the entrance, and access control is carried out,» the press secretary said.

The teachers« actions were also commented on to a 116.RU correspondent by women familiar with the situation and one of the students» parents.

«They performed 100 percent, closed the classrooms, put down the desks as taught, and the children were great — they didn»t panic but helped. I was most afraid for the children,« the chairman of the STOS (Council of Territorial Public Self-Government) of the microdistrict told us.

«They worked excellently,» wrote one of the mothers.

Psychological support was organized for teachers, schoolchildren, and parents.

Recall that a 13-year-old teenager attacked a cleaner with a knife, and she was provided medical assistance. The boy was detained by Rosgvardiya. A knife, mask, and tactical gloves were confiscated from him. A criminal case has been initiated for attempted murder and negligence.

A classmate described the teenager as strange and said that he was interested in terrorism. No one bullied the boy at school. It turned out that two days before the attack, a close friend of the boy died.
