Nine-year-old boy dies after falling into open well in Urals

In Chelyabinsk Oblast, in the town of Nyazepetrovsk, on Wednesday, January 28, a nine-year-old boy died after falling into an open well. Medics who arrived at the scene confirmed the child«s death.

The manhole is just a couple of meters from the road.
The regional government reported that the well, filled with groundwater, was preliminarily considered ownerless and not listed on the balance sheet of utility companies.

The deceased boy was a third-grade student.
«By order of the governor, a commission from the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services of Chelyabinsk Oblast will travel to Nyazepetrovsk tomorrow morning to establish the ownership of the facility,» commented the government.

The well was filled with water.
The well in which the nine-year-old boy drowned in Nyazepetrovsk was located next to a path, covered with a piece of linoleum and drifted with snow. This was reported by a source to 74.RU.
The mother of the third-grader raised the alarm when he did not return from school. Around 15:30, she contacted the police, and a post about the missing child appeared in a local public group.
The manhole where the child was found is literally a couple of meters from the road on Yuzhnaya Street, and a path runs past it. Probably, the boy did not take the road but decided to cut through and turned onto the path, where there was a deadly trap.
The deceased child was from a large family; the parents are raising two younger children.
The regional prosecutor«s office reported that an inspection has begun into the compliance by officials with legislation in the housing and communal services sector. And the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case on causing death by negligence due to improper performance of professional duties (Part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
