Mother throws children from 16th floor, dies
A criminal case has been opened in the Leningrad region after a mother threw her young children from a 16th-floor balcony. The woman died, while the children survived and were hospitalized.

The Investigative Committee of the Leningrad Region reported on 3 February 2025 that a criminal case had been opened on charges of attempted murder of two young children.
The tragic incident occurred on the evening of 2 February in the settlement of Novogorelovo, Lomonosovsky District, Leningrad Oblast. According to preliminary information, a 23-year-old woman, a citizen of a foreign country, threw her children from a common balcony of an apartment building from the 16th floor.
The children, born in 2024 and 2025, survived the fall and were urgently hospitalized. Their mother did not survive, having died by suicide. The investigation into the criminal case has been taken under control by the prosecutor«s office of the Leningrad Region.
