According to Natalya, the family was contacted by the vice-rector of the Saint Petersburg State University of Civil Aviation. No detailed information was provided: it was only confirmed that Dmitry was on the fatal list of the deceased.

«I saw that at 10 o»clock he was still online. I call, he doesn«t answer the phone. Tomorrow we fly to Orsk—there»s only one direct flight from Moscow. I don«t know how to survive this. We»ll be there together with the family of the other boy, they are from Yekaterinburg. They said they will meet us there and arrange accommodation,« Dmitry»s mother Natalya shared with MSK1.RU.

At the end of February, Dmitry was supposed to turn 22. He really wanted to be a pilot, but didn«t immediately pursue the necessary specialty.

«At first we were afraid that he wouldn»t qualify for pilot training, so he enrolled as an air traffic controller and studied for a year. Then he said: «Mom, I»ll still re-enroll.« In Orsk, they were supposed to have flight practice. First they took tests, and he said that he was scheduled for his first flight,» Natalya Sedova explained to MSK1.RU.

Rosaviatsia (the Federal Air Transport Agency) expressed condolences to the relatives and close ones of those killed in the plane crash and promised to provide all necessary support.

«The pilot instructor and cadets on board were part of our aviation team. Their passing is a great loss not only for fellow students and mentors, but for all of us. We will make every effort to determine the causes of the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future. A comprehensive and thorough investigation into the causes of the tragedy has already begun,» Rosaviatsia said on social media.
