‘More Questions Than Answers’: Father on Girl's Balcony Fall in Yekaterinburg

The father said his daughter was a sociable and normal child
The father of 11-year-old Ksenia (name changed — Ed.), who died in Yekaterinburg, spoke about his daughter. On the morning of January 27, the girl«s body was found under the windows of a high-rise building in Akademichesky.
‘While the investigation is ongoing, I won«t disclose anything yet, because there are more questions than answers. So far, it»s only known that she fell from the balcony. It seems no one else was there. She left a note, which investigators seized, I haven«t seen it,’ said the father of the deceased, Anatoly.
The fifth-grader«s dad added that the girl never complained about life.
‘I don«t know if there were any warning signs, the only thing is she spent a lot of time on the internet. Overall, she was quite normal, sociable, but with friends, classmates. And at home, she mostly spent time on her phone. No one was watching what she was doing there, now her mobile has been seized by investigators,’ added the father.
Earlier, Ksenia«s friends said that shortly before the tragedy, the girl had argued with her mother.
‘Of course, everyone has arguments. Maybe recently they were arguing about something. But these are everyday matters, not some unsolvable conflicts, there was no huge blow-up,’ added the father.
Ksenia«s parents divorced three years ago, but the father maintained constant communication with his daughter and was actively involved in her life.
‘We are divorced from her mom, but my daughter was practically at my house every day, I live opposite. We communicated regularly. The last time she was with me was from Saturday to Sunday. There were never any explicit statements or complaints from my daughter. She never complained about school or classmates either,’ concluded Anatoly.
Earlier, neighbors said that the girl«s mother works as a psychologist and described the family as well-off and quiet. Classmates said that Ksenia often ‘complained about life’ and spoke of depression. Also, when answering in class, the girl gave examples involving corpses.
Law enforcement is considering the suicide version. After the incident, a note and phone left by the girl were found on the common balcony of the house.
