Minusinsk fire claims disabled boy's life; mother injured during rescue

In Minusinsk, a 12-year-old boy died in a fire, according to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for Krasnoyarsk Krai. The boy was disabled, clarified NGS24.RU citing the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.
The 12-year-old victim had cerebral palsy and relied on a wheelchair for mobility.

According to the agency, on the afternoon of January 28, a one-story log house on Pugachev Street caught fire. Shortly before that, his mother had left the house for a few minutes to fetch coal.
«When the woman returned, she tried to enter the building to save her son but was unable to find him. Neighbors pulled her out,» said the press service of EMERCOM.
Two people were injured, they added: the mother herself and a neighbor who pulled her out. The woman has burns and poisoning, according to the prosecutor«s office. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
Investigators have opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Russian Criminal Code (causing death by negligence). The boy had cerebral palsy (CP) and used a wheelchair.
According to preliminary information from the Investigative Committee, the boy died from carbon monoxide poisoning. To determine the exact causes of death and the fire, forensic examinations have been ordered.
The press service of the prosecutor«s office added that they will check how the child lived and how the preventive authorities worked.
