Minnikhanov on School Attack After Cleaner's Bravery
Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov commented for the first time on the attack by a 7th-grader at Nizhnekamsk Lyceum No. 37. He gave instructions at a Saturday meeting.
«It»s good that the cleaner was brave, offered resistance, and thanks to that, the story ended this way. Allah saklasyn (God forbid — ed.) The children were not hurt, Allaga shoker (thank God — ed.),« said the head of the republic.
He also reminded about the incident at the «Algorithm» school in Kuyuki, where another 7th-grader mixed a reagent from a play set into soda and gave it to classmates to drink.
Minnikhanov instructed to hold parent-teacher meetings. Vice-Premier Leyla Fazleeva and the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of Tatarstan, Ilsur Khadiullin, must organize an unscheduled meeting of the Republican Commission on Minors« Affairs, a meeting with school directors, and councils on crime and offense prevention. The heads of cities and districts were also instructed to intensify work. The January incidents will be reviewed at a coordination council with the participation of the prosecutor»s office and the FSB.
«Don»t cover up or conceal. Hold parent-teacher meetings. Discuss not grades, but children«s behavior,» emphasized Minnikhanov.
On January 22, a 7th-grade student of Nizhnekamsk Lyceum No. 37 stabbed a cleaner with a knife, fired a flare gun, and set off firecrackers. The employee«s life is not in danger; she received 8 stitches on her arm. The teenager was also hospitalized, having been injured by the flare gun shot. A criminal case has been initiated for negligence and attempted murder. However, lawyers believe that the teenager may avoid criminal responsibility, as may his parents.
On December 21, a student of the «Algorithm» lyceum in Kuyuki added a reagent from a play set to sodas and offered it to three classmates. They were taken to the hospital and given drips, after which they were sent home. The teenager told police that he prepared the dangerous drink out of boredom. A report was drawn up against the boy«s mother for failure to fulfill duties.
