Mercedes catches fire on ring road, driver hospitalized
On the afternoon of January 25, a Mercedes-Benz caught fire on the inner ring of the St. Petersburg Ring Road, with the driver sustaining injuries and being hospitalized.

A major traffic jam formed on the Bolshoy Obukhovsky Bridge after a car caught fire on the Ring Road. The incident occurred on the afternoon of January 25 on the inner ring.
Footage from the scene showed thick black smoke billowing from the burning vehicle on the ring road.
Firefighters extinguished the flames by 13:11. In a statement from the St. Petersburg Emergency Situations Ministry press service, it was clarified: «Ring Road (inner ring) at the 60 km mark. Combustible parts of the Mercedes-Benz vehicle burned.»
Video footage from the scene shows a powerful column of black smoke rising from the car. As a result of the incident, traffic towards Kudrovo was paralyzed, with the length of the jam reaching almost four kilometers by 14:15.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz was taken to a medical facility.
