Massive Accident and Fire in South Volgograd
In the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd, almost opposite a hippopotamus sculpture gifted by the late sculptor Zurab Tsereteli, a fiery accident occurred. Three cars collided at the intersection of Proletarskaya Street and Heroes of Stalingrad Avenue, and one vehicle burst into flames.
Initial reports of the incident surfaced on anonymous Telegram channels. Authors claimed it happened near the «Proletarskaya Street» bus stop. Eyewitness footage shows a black sedan with a smashed front end and a white hatchback on the roadside with an open, sooty hood, with a fire station guard nearby.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), no one was injured in the incident.
«At 11:54, a fire was reported in the Krasnoarmeysky district of Volgograd. Combustion occurred in the car»s engine compartment over an area of one square meter. Firefighters from the 6th fire and rescue station extinguished the blaze at 12:05. There were no fatalities or injuries,« EMERCOM stated. »The presumed cause is a malfunction of the vehicle«s systems, components, and assemblies.»
Details of the collision and information about possible injuries are being clarified by police and the regional health committee.
The regional health department later confirmed there were no injuries in the traffic accident.
Recall that a previous mass accident occurred on Lenin Avenue, where a car speeding into the oncoming lane hit a UAZ «Bukhanka» van, and another car crashed into them. The overturned minibus became a giant fireball, injuring three people. A participant described how it happened to V1.RU correspondents.
