Man's Leg Severed in Drone Strike on Vehicle

An attack on a car in the Belgorod region wounded four people, one of whom died in the hospital hours later.

On 1 February, massive attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) continued in the Belgorod region, adjacent to Voronezh. At the time of publication, five wounded civilians and one fatality were known. At 16:16, a missile threat was declared in the regional capital and in the Belgorodsky and Shebekinsky districts, lasting seven minutes. Soon after, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that Belgorod had been hit by a missile strike, wounding a woman.

«An ambulance crew is transporting the victim with barotrauma and fragmentation wounds to the arms and legs to City Hospital No. 2. All necessary medical aid is being provided,» the regional head said. «All emergency services are working on site. Information about other consequences is being clarified.»

Barotrauma is damage to internal cavities and tissues due to a sudden change in external pressure, which occurs during an explosion. The lungs, middle ear, and abdominal cavity can be affected, for example.

An hour after the missile strike, it became known that in the village of Golovchino, Graivoronsky district, a Ukrainian drone struck a car on the premises of a commercial facility. The vehicle caught fire during the attack—the fire completely destroyed it, and four civilians were injured. According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, two men were in serious condition: one had a traumatic amputation of his leg and a penetrating neck wound, the second had a penetrating abdominal wound. Two women were also wounded: one had barotrauma and a burn to her right arm, the other had—preliminarily—barotrauma. All were taken to the hospital, but doctors were unable to save one of the men: he died several hours later.

On the evening of 1 February, the regional governor reported that in the Belgorodsky district, in the Khutor Tserkovny, an FPV drone attacked a truck on an enterprise«s territory. The driver himself went to a local hospital—preliminarily, he has a concussion. The truck»s cab was damaged.
