Man sets car on fire in Sestroretsk over personal dislike

Police detained a man who set fire to a car belonging to a Sestroretsk resident out of personal animosity.

On January 22, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region reported the detention of a suspect in the intentional arson of a car.

The incident occurred on January 20 on Primorskoye Highway in Sestroretsk.

An unknown person set fire to a Volkswagen Passat belonging to a 57-year-old resident of the Kurortny District, resulting in the car«s interior being completely burned out.

At the scene, investigators found a bottle with remnants of flammable liquid.

A criminal case has been initiated for intentional damage to someone else«s property.

Police stated:

«On January 21, as a result of operational search activities, criminal investigation officers detained and exposed a 50-year-old man. It has been established that he, acting out of hostile relations, committed the arson of the said car.»

The suspect has been detained for two days.
