Man injured in Arzamas elevator fall; criminal case opened

In one of the houses in Arzamas, an elevator fell from the height of the eighth floor. A man was in the cabin at the time and was injured. A criminal case has been opened regarding this incident, according to the regional Investigative Committee.
According to the agency, as a result of the fall, the man sustained bodily injuries, but currently, his life and health are not in danger. Investigators have opened a criminal case under the article on providing services that do not meet safety requirements.
“Currently, the investigator is carrying out necessary investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident. As part of the criminal investigation, technical documentation for the maintenance, repair, and operation of elevator equipment in the apartment building will be seized and thoroughly studied,” the Investigative Committee reported.
Updated at 14:30. As reported by NN.RU in the State Housing Inspection of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the incident occurred in a house at 50 Let VLKSM Street over the weekend. Previously, no complaints about the unsatisfactory technical condition of the elevator had been received by the agency.
According to the management company, on January 25, an automatic elevator stop was triggered and it got stuck. After the elevator stop signal was given, a team arrived at the scene eight minutes later. Specialists checked the elevator«s operability and drew up a report. Currently, the cabin is in working order and has been restarted.
It is also noted that the young man left the elevator on his own. As clarified by NN.RU in the regional Ministry of Health, on the same day, the patient sought medical help and was prescribed outpatient treatment.
According to information from the Fund for Capital Repair of Apartment Buildings in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, the apartment building where the incident occurred was put into operation in 2014. The management company here is “GradServis.”
In the fall, a similar incident occurred in Dzerzhinsk, when a 19-year-old girl almost died in a shopping mall elevator. She was rescued by firefighters, according to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
