The village of Malinovka near Chelyabinsk, along with the microdistricts «Privilegia» and «Bely Khutor», was left without electricity on Saturday, January 24. Residents report that outages started at night, and by evening, power and heating in homes had been gone for several hours.

«It»s freezing outside, and in Malinovka there are outages again, the voltage is low. At night, there was no electricity for three hours, it came back on at 7 a.m., the house just started to warm up and again an outage for an hour. At 5 p.m. they cut it off again, the house doesn«t have time to warm up,» said Igor. «People are freezing, appliances in the house are breaking down.»

«Today from the morning, first one phase was missing, on the second voltage 120, on the third — 220, and so it was until about 16:30, and then the light disappeared altogether,» said Lyudmila. «How much longer can they torment people? My children have already caught colds. When will they fix it? And we»ve had issues with electricity all winter.«

«It»s -30°C (-22°F) outside, and we have no power,« said Maria. »I«m home alone with the children. The house is warm, but it cools down quickly in such severe frosts. All heating is electric, there»s no gas in the village.«

In the company Rossety Ural, they say that a double failure occurred: first a transformer broke down, it was replaced, for which electricity was cut off. And in the evening, a break happened in the power line supplying Malinovka.

«Currently, energy workers have begun emergency repair work. Under safe work production conditions, performing a number of stages is impossible without temporary power supply restrictions. To carry out repair work, energy workers need to perform a short-term power outage in Malinovka, »Privilegia«, and »Bely Khutor«. Energy workers are doing everything possible to complete the work in the shortest time,» the company assured.

Updated at 23:00: Rossety Ural says that power supply has been restored in Malinovka, Privilegia, and Bely Khutor. The power line has been put under load. Company specialists ask residents to limit the use of energy-intensive appliances if possible.

Now energy workers are conducting control load measurements on the distribution network. Reserve power sources have been brought to Malinovka: 4 generators with a total capacity of 580 kW. They are not yet connected. Their connection points will be finally determined after load monitoring. It is planned that these generators will gradually supply power to streets to prevent too much load on the network if needed. Such a measure is also necessary to increase the voltage level in the electrical network.

In the village, specialists are on duty for the most prompt elimination of non-standard situations.

Recall that Malinovka was left without electricity on January 15. In abnormal frosts, homes had neither heating nor water. Representatives of Rossety explained that the cause of the outage was damage to a 10 kV power line. Repair of the failure dragged on due to high load and new damage on the networks; in Malinovka and Kremenkul, temporary accommodation and heating points were set up.

In 2024, Malinovka was promised a new substation, but it was only about the start of design; when it will come to its construction — is still unknown. However, even after the launch of the «Kremenkul» substation, residents of nearby settlements continue to complain about low voltage, outages, and power cuts — network capacity cannot keep up with the growing load.
