Land Cruiser abandoned on Yekaterinburg road for week

A white Land Cruiser with Moscow license plates was abandoned near the central stadium in Yekaterinburg. It is parked on a traffic island in the middle of the road. Readers first spotted the SUV on January 27, and it remains in place.

«There are no visible damages. And no one is taking it. Neither the owner nor a tow truck,» a reader told E1.RU.

Over the week, the car became dusted with snow. Someone wiped the side window. Apparently, passing bystanders wanted to check if the driver was okay. But he was not behind the wheel.

The interior resembles a dump, cluttered with boxes and bags. We conducted our own mini-investigation and tracked down the car's owner. Despite the Moscow plates, the SUV is owned by a pensioner from Yekaterinburg.
A reporter from E1.RU could not reach him, but contacted his wife.
«The battery died, so he left it there. He will pick it up today. Thanks for your concern,» the driver's wife said.
Earlier, Yekaterinburg residents showed abandoned cars sticking out of snowdrifts across the city. In Yekaterinburg, authorities want to send unclaimed cars to the zone of the special military operation (SVO), but only those in good condition. The idea was proposed by Yulia Rusaleva, deputy director of the city's landscaping department, at a life safety commission.
