In Volgograd, relatives of the 20-year-old driver of a Lada Priora, who ended up in the hospital after a horrific accident on the afternoon of January 23, are looking for witnesses to the accident who could tell how it all happened. According to their assumptions, the car«s departure from the road was provoked by a truck driver who suddenly started changing lanes in front of the Lada.
In the official report from the traffic police, the accident is described very dryly.
«According to preliminary information, at 15:40 a 20-year-old driver lost control of a Lada Priora car and, opposite house No. 100a on 40 Let VLKSM Street, hit a light pole and a fence,» says the message from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) of Russia for the Volgograd Region. «As a result of the accident, the driver himself was taken to a medical facility.»
However, relatives of the injured young man suggest that the accident may have been provoked by a truck driver who suddenly decided to change lanes in front of the car.
«The road has two lanes there. In the far right lane was a KamAZ, followed by a truck,» said the brother of the injured man. «The Priora was driving in the left lane, and when it started to catch up with the truck, the truck suddenly began to change lanes. My brother, on reflex, started to move left, towards the tram tracks, there he started to skid, spin, he hit a pole and ended up falling into a ditch. Now my brother is in the hospital, he has a concussion.»
Relatives of the injured young man hope that the truck«s dangerous maneuver may have been captured on dashcams installed in cars passing at that moment on 40 Let VLKSM Street and are asking those who might have saved the recording to come forward.
