Lada Driver Crushes a Road Worker Against Gazelle

A horrific traffic accident occurred yesterday in Volzhsky, a satellite city of Volgograd. In a collision between a station wagon and a delivery truck, one person, a road worker, was injured. Medics are now fighting to save his life.

According to initial police information, the driver of a black VAZ-2111 station wagon was at fault for the accident.

«According to preliminary information, at 12:33, a 26-year-old driver operating a VAZ-2111 near light pole No. 36 on Lenin Avenue struck a 26-year-old man who was carrying out road work, as well as a GAZ truck parked nearby. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian was taken to a medical facility,» says the daily accident report.

Judging by the footage from the scene, the accident occurred near the settlement of Yuzhny in the city of Volzhsky, one kilometer from the interchange of Lenin Avenue and Sevastopolskaya Street. The front right part of the VAZ-2111 was heavily crumpled from the impact, and the windshield has a dent characteristic of a human body impact. The glass was even broken through where the person«s head presumably was. Notably, behind the wrecked car, a stand with warning signs about road works can be seen.

The Volgograd Region Health Committee clarified that the injured worker is in the intensive care unit of the Fisher Hospital. Doctors assess his condition as stable.
