Kursk Governor Injured in Car Accident, Requires Surgery

Alexander Khinshtein, the governor of Kursk region, reported that he was in a car accident and had to undergo surgery.

«I planned to work all day in the Konyshyovsky district today. Unfortunately, the weather conditions are difficult. The car skidded on a difficult section of the road and was thrown onto the shoulder,» Khinshtein wrote in his Telegram channel.

There were no other casualties, and his car did not collide with other vehicles. He apologized to the residents of the region for not being able to meet with them: «Once I recover, we will definitely make up for it.»

Unfortunately, everything turned out to be much worse than the governor expected. The head of the region broke his femoral bone.

«Doctors have already successfully operated on me. The situation, unfortunately, is a bit worse than assumed. A fracture of the femoral bone, so I will have to spend some time here,» the governor explained.

He thanked the medics, the hospital, and the ambulance that promptly delivered him to the medical facility. He added that he refused to go to Moscow for treatment.

Medics insist that Khinshtein completely abstain from all external contacts and work matters. However, he promised to continue working «even in a horizontal position.»

The Telegram channel Mash reported that the driver of a minibus may be found at fault for the accident. Presumably, the man did not maintain a safe distance.

«According to our information, the car moving in front of the governor»s vehicle suddenly slowed down to turn left. But the driver did not turn on the turn signal, causing the official«s driver to fail to brake in time, tried to avoid it, hit the shoulder, and lost control,» the channel shared.
