According to eyewitnesses, on the afternoon of the holiday, January 18, construction equipment arrived at an open field area where children were sledding. The footage shows a tractor working near the hill, with children around — dangerously close to the wheels. Meanwhile, none of the adults led them away.

At some point, one of the men attacked the special vehicle driver, climbing into the cab and punching the driver several times. Also, a woman filmed children throwing snowballs at the tractor.

Two days later, on January 20, Krasnodar police reported that a pre-investigation check has been initiated regarding the incident. Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of what happened and the identities of all conflict participants. The Ministry of Internal Affairs also clarified that no official statements to the police have been received from the conflict participants.

Earlier, Krasnodar authorities had already prohibited children from sledding down hills — the slope of a military monument was covered with sand, and schoolchildren were threatened with a large fine.
