Injuries reported in Omsk high-rise fire in Kuzminki district

A major fire broke out in the Kuzminki microdistrict of Omsk today, January 25. Around 7 a.m., residents of the 19-story building at Vzletnaya Street, 13/1 woke up to a fire alarm and the smell of smoke — an apartment on the seventh floor was on fire.

As reported by NGS55.RU from the press service of the regional Emergency Ministry (EMERCOM), the report of the fire in the high-rise came at 7:14 a.m. Fifty-four people evacuated from the building on their own, and another nine were rescued by firefighters.
«The fire area was 40 square meters. The fire was contained at 8:02 a.m. and fully extinguished at 8:29 a.m. There are no fatalities,» the Emergency Ministry reported.
According to NGS55.RU«s own sources, two residents of the high-rise were injured in the emergency. The nature of their injuries is currently unknown.
Photos of the fire appeared on social media — they show flames bursting from the apartment window. After the fire was extinguished, a huge cloud of steam formed above the high-rise.
[Update as of 11:00]. The Emergency Ministry clarified the information about the fire. According to the agency, 96 people evacuated on their own. Firefighters rescued 29 people, including 8 children. Two people were injured. The fire covering 40 square meters was extinguished by 35 Russian Emergency Ministry employees using 9 pieces of equipment.
