On Friday, January 30, in southern Moscow, a woman died after a block of ice fell on her head from a roof. The woman«s body is still lying under the windows of an apartment building in the Danilovsky district.

The incident occurred during the day in the courtyard of a building on Khavskaya Street. According to preliminary data, the ice fell on the head of a 65-year-old woman who was walking along a path in the courtyard. The retiree died from her injuries. An ambulance and police are currently at the scene.

As local residents told MSK1.RU, the work of emergency services is complicated by the fact that other large pieces of ice remain on the roof, hanging over the courtyard and could fall at any moment.

The area around the building has been partially cordoned off to prevent people from passing under the dangerous eaves. Residents and passersby are asked to avoid this section and not approach the tragedy site.

The Investigative Committee (SK) has opened a criminal case under the article «Performance of works or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements» (Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). Investigators and forensic experts are currently working at the scene.

Earlier, an ice block nearly killed an infant in a residential complex in southeastern Moscow. A piece of ice broke off from around the 20th floor and fell directly into a stroller with a small child. The incident was caught on video.
