Husband and Wife Killed, Child Injured in Accident on Kola Highway

A fatal accident occurred on Thursday, January 30, at approximately 15:45 at the 183rd kilometer of the federal highway R-21 «Kola» in the Volkhovsky District of the Leningrad Region.

According to preliminary information, a 46-year-old woman driving a Mercedes towards Murmansk attempted to overtake without ensuring the maneuver was safe. As a result, her car collided head-on with an oncoming Kia Cerato.

At the scene of the incident, the 38-year-old driver of the Kia and his 37-year-old wife died from their injuries. A minor passenger in the foreign car, who according to early reports is an 8-year-old child, was taken to the Lodeynoye Pole Hospital in serious condition.

An investigation into the traffic accident has been launched. The prosecutor«s office is supervising its progress and results.
