Huge smoke pillar rises over Yaroslavl residential area

Late in the evening of 19 July, a fire started in Yaroslavl«s Frunzensky district. Residents spotted a huge pillar of smoke rising near Frunze Avenue.
«A house is burning at the intersection of Lebedevskaya Street and Ilyinsky Lane», eyewitnesses wrote in the «Overheard in Yaroslavl!» group on VKontakte.
Residents attached a video taken from an apartment window to the post. The footage shows an orange column of smoke rising in the distance.
The Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry (MChS) for Yaroslavl Region said the fire started at 22:37 on Morozovskaya Street, 4. According to Yandex Maps, there was a small dilapidated wooden house there.
Five special vehicles and 16 firefighters responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished in nearly four hours, until 2:17.
«As a result of the fire, a structure was damaged over an area of 48 square meters. There are no casualties», the ministry clarified.
On the night of 19 July, a tragedy occurred in Yaroslavl Region — a 70-year-old pensioner died during a fire in a private house. The Emergencies Ministry had already announced a preliminary cause of the blaze.
