House Arrest for Two Defendants in Lenenergo Bribery Case
The Primorsky District Court of St. Petersburg has set preventive measures for two defendants in a criminal corruption case at Rosseti Lenenergo. They are senior foreman Sergey Landyshev and leading specialist Stanislav Grishin from the Cable Network branch.
According to the investigation, Landyshev received 432,000 rubles (about $4,800 at current rates) through an intermediary from June to December 2024. This money was a bribe for expediting the approval of electricity metering devices for one company. Grishin, as per the charges, accepted 190,000 rubles (about $2,100 at current rates) on 5 November 2024 for helping to obtain a priority connection point for the company«s facilities to the grid.
The court placed both accused under house arrest: Landyshev until 20 March and Grishin until 21 March. However, in Grishin«s case, the investigation insisted on detention in a pre-trial detention center, but the court rejected the motion due to the defendant»s illness, which prevents him from being held in custody.
Earlier in the same case, preventive measures were chosen for four other detainees. Among them are the deputy head of the Sertolovsky district electrical networks and an intermediary in the bribery. This deputy head is the only one among all the accused to be placed in custody.
The criminal case developed after searches that police conducted on 21 January in Lenenergo offices and at businessmen«s premises. As a result of these operations, six people were detained.
