Helicopter Flies from Arkhangelsk to Restore Power in Murmansk

A massive blackout has been ongoing for a day in Murmansk and Severomorsk. Due to the collapse of five power line pylons, the cities have been left without electricity. Specialists from Arkhangelsk have flown to the region to install power lines.
‘An Mi-8 helicopter will deliver materials to the work site in the tundra. Then, a pylon assembled on the ground will be attached to the helicopter and installed on a prepared foundation,’ the press service of the company Rosseti North-West said.

The blackout in Murmansk Oblast began on the evening of 23 January, and a state of heightened readiness was declared there. The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case under the article ‘Negligence’.
In Arkhangelsk Oblast, residents also were left without power for a time: the accident affected the Pinezhsky and part of the Kholmogorsky districts. Power has already been restored.
