Heating main bursts in Zabaykalsky village, location elusive

A burst heating main in Yasnaya village, Zabaykalsky Krai, has caused temperatures to drop in apartments, with the exact location of the leak still unknown as of January 23.

A heating main burst occurred in the village of Yasnaya in the Olovyanninsky District of Zabaykalsky Krai, and specialists have not yet found the exact location. The burst was reported to a correspondent on January 23 by a local resident, and the village head, Tatyana Levkovskaya, confirmed the information.

Update: After the news was published, JSC Energiya, which maintains the heating networks in Yasnaya, reported that the burst has been found and repairs have begun. Heavy equipment has been prepared as a precaution, in case it is needed.

A local resident reported that due to the burst, temperatures in apartments have been dropping, and are now around 15–17 degrees Celsius (59–63°F).

“Indeed, there is an accident on the heating main, it«s the heating supply. The burst has not been found yet. The cause is not established. We have inspected everything. All houses, all social facilities, everything. Everything is fine,” said village head Tatyana Levkovskaya.

She clarified that the team is working and continues to search for the location of the burst. At the time of publication, it was not possible to get comments from the regional Ministry of Housing and Communal Services — neither Minister Alexei Yusupov nor the press service are answering calls.

The 2025/2026 heating season in Zabaykalsky Krai is proving difficult. Just in the last few days, several accidents have occurred — for example, in Darasun, due to a heating main burst, people have been without heat for the third day. On January 23, the utility company handling the repairs reported that the repairs are almost complete. Additionally, in Dauria on January 19, a water pipe burst, leaving some houses without water. There, they also promise to finish the work within the day.

According to the service Kontur.Focus, JSC Energiya was established on March 14, 2025. The general director is Vladimir Bulkin. JSC Energiya is the founder of four other companies: LLC Energiya Shilka, LLC Energiya Chernyshevsk, LLC Energiya Borzya, and LLC Energiya Chita, established in June 2025.
