Health ministry updates on bus crash victims' condition

Three people injured in a serious mass traffic accident involving a tourist bus from the company «Primoravtotrans» in Khasansky District remain in the hospital, one injured person went home. The Ministry of Health of Primorye clarified that they all sustained severe injuries.

«Primoravtotrans» is the largest road transport enterprise in the Russian Far East. In 2000, the company was appointed as the official carrier for regular bus routes to China and currently operates several passenger services to the following cities in China: Harbin, Mudanjiang, Jixi, Suifenhe, Mishan, Dongning, Yanji, Hunchun.

In the Khasanskaya Central Hospital in the settlement of Slavyanka, those with severe injuries remain, while a person with moderate injuries – facial and soft tissue contusions – refused hospitalization and left on their own to Vladivostok. Also, there were 5 Chinese citizens on the bus: two were taken by ambulance from Nadezhdinsky District to the «Tysyachekoyechnaya» Hospital in Vladivostok, the others refused assistance and hospitalization and left by taxi or passing cars.

A King Long bus was traveling from the settlement of Kraskino towards the settlement of Razdolnoye. From the direction of Ussuriysk towards the «Kraskino» border crossing, an empty car carrier FAW Jiefang was moving, driven by a 38-year-old Chinese citizen. He lost control on a curve and crashed directly into the bus. In the process, he hit several other vehicles, and according to preliminary data, 4 more cars were damaged.

The aftermath of the incident was captured on video by eyewitnesses, and footage from the scene was also shown by the police.

The driver of the cargo vehicle has 6 years of experience. The consequences of the accident were captured on video by eyewitnesses and also shown by police officers. Traffic on this section is not closed but may be obstructed. Police and medical personnel are still working at the accident site.

The Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements for life and health of consumers, resulting in the negligent death of two or more persons). At the direction of Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako, Health Minister Yevgeny Shestopalov went to Khasansky District, where the massive accident occurred. All necessary assistance will be provided to the victims.

In 2023, there was a similar traffic accident involving a tourist bus traveling from China towards Ussuriysk. The driver veered into a ditch. Two people died, and some passengers were trapped in the mangled vehicle. All information about that incident has been collected in a special section.
