Gurzufskaya Apartment Owner Dies in Fire After Hoarding

The apartment on Gurzufskaya Street was filled with piles of junk, complicating rescue efforts.
The owner of a burned apartment on Gurzufskaya has died. The tragedy occurred on the evening of 1 February. Firefighters who arrived at the scene found the man on a sofa and pulled him from the fire. Medics attempted to resuscitate him, but without success.

Emergency medics spent half an hour trying to resuscitate the apartment owner, but he did not survive.
Neighbors said the deceased was named Leonid and was over 70 years old. After his wife«s death, the man lived alone and turned his apartment into a dump. During the fire, rescuers had to navigate through piles of junk to pull the owner out to the stairwell.

According to neighbors, the elderly man had been hoarding trash in his apartment for many years.
«The fire area was 12 square meters. A high-pressure water hose was used for extinguishing. 12 people were evacuated via the staircases, including two children. The cause of the fire will be determined by the investigation authorities,» said Alexei Neganov, head of the fire service duty shift.
Earlier in the Urals, a man and a woman burned alive in their home. Their bodies were found under the rubble.
