Governor reveals deep munition crater in Belgorod
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported on work to extract a munition on Gubkina Street. Over 1700 residents were evacuated for safety.

On the morning of January 22, the governor of Belgorod Region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported in his Telegram channel on ongoing work to extract a munition in Belgorod on Gubkina Street. He demonstrated a massive pit at least two meters deep (about 6.5 feet), into which an excavator fits easily.
Emergency personnel and military explosives experts work at the site where the ordnance was found.
The munition crater was discovered on the evening of January 21. Over 1700 residents were evacuated from nearby houses, with about 50 people placed in a temporary accommodation point. Traffic on Gubkina Street is completely blocked.
At the site, specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) and explosive ordnance disposal technicians from the Ministry of Defense are working, with heavy equipment deployed. There are no casualties or injuries as a result of the incident.
