A fatal accident occurred in the regional capital, resulting in the death of an electric bicycle rider. He was struck by a Gazelle van, and its driver has been referred for a medical examination.

According to the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate (GIBDD) of Stavropol Krai, the accident happened today, 23 January, at 14:00. The driver of the Gazelle van hit a 34-year-old man who was riding an electric bicycle. The victim sustained serious injuries and died at the scene before the ambulance arrived.

It was revealed that the driver of the cargo vehicle was a 25-year-old local resident, who had been held accountable for traffic violations 16 times in the last two years. He was sent for examination to determine if he was intoxicated.

Law enforcement agencies are conducting an inspection and establishing the circumstances of the accident.

Another fatal accident occurred late in the evening of 22 January in Georgiyevsk. Around 23:00 on Yermolov Street, the driver of a Lada Priora lost control and crashed into a brick fence. The man died at the scene from his injuries. Medical personnel could only confirm the death.
