Readers of the publication 74.RU reported on Friday about a fire at the Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant. The plant«s administration confirmed the emergency, noting there were no casualties.
As one eyewitness recounted, the incident happened the day before. «Since 12 o»clock yesterday, coke gas has been burning at Mechel. They«re still putting it out. Even a fire train arrived today.»
The press service of PJSC ChMK (Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant) specified that on January 29, a technological gas flare-up occurred in one of the workshops. «Firefighting teams are involved in the response. There are no casualties, and the workshop equipment was not damaged,» the plant assured.
Representatives of the regional head office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) refused to comment on the situation, redirecting all questions to the management of the metallurgical enterprise.
