Late on July 19, residents of Yaroslavl«s Frunzensky District noticed a huge column of smoke rising near Frunze Avenue. The source of the fire was at 4 Morozovskaya Street, where a dilapidated wooden house stood.
Firefighters worked for nearly four hours to extinguish the blaze.
Eyewitnesses reported the fire on social media. In the Podslushano v Yaroslavle group on VKontakte, they wrote: «A house is on fire. At the intersection of Lebedevskaya Street and Ilyinsky Lane.» The post included a video shot from an apartment window showing an orange column of smoke in the distance.
According to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Yaroslavl Oblast, a fire alarm was received at 22:37. Five units of special equipment and 16 firefighters arrived at the scene. They extinguished the fire for nearly four hours — until 2:17.
As a result of the incident, a structure with an area of 48 square meters was damaged. No casualties were reported, the Ministry clarified.
That same night, July 19, another fire occurred in Yaroslavl Oblast — a 70-year-old pensioner died in a private house. The Ministry of Emergency Situations announced a preliminary cause of the fire.
