Former Kuban Environment Ministry Official's Dismissal Reason Changed to 'Loss of Trust'

A court changed the grounds for dismissal to «loss of trust» for a former deputy minister in the Kuban region.

On 22 January, the regional prosecutor«s office reported that the grounds for Alexander Kainov»s dismissal were changed by court order. The official, who held the post of first deputy minister of natural resources of the region, was detained on 28 May. He was sent to a pre-trial detention center, and the prosecutor«s office demanded the seizure of his assets worth 90 million rubles (approximately $1 million at current rates).
However, he managed to resign voluntarily before the corruption penalty was applied to him.
An additional prosecutor«s check showed that Kainov submitted false income declarations.
He also failed to take measures to prevent and resolve conflicts of interest in the service due to his decisions regarding a subordinate official with whom he had long-standing personal relationships, as well as regarding a legal entity whose management the official maintained close friendly ties with, according to the regional prosecutor«s office press release.
Earlier, the portal 93.RU reported that Kainov was detained on suspicion of large-scale fraud.
