Fool’s Paradise: Kodinsk Parents on School Attack

After the attack at Kodinsk School No. 4 (Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia), local residents told the NGS24.RU newsroom about what is happening at the educational institution.

A former student is defending chemistry teacher Nina Feliksovna, who was attacked by a schoolgirl.

«She is a wonderful teacher. As long as I»ve known her, she has always acted fairly, never raised her hand against children, never insulted them,« she said. »I was very surprised that she was involved in such a conflict. She is the last teacher at the school whom I would have suspected.«

According to her, the teacher might reprimand a student if they didn«t do homework or misbehaved in class, but she never overstepped boundaries.

Meanwhile, the mother of a School No. 4 student told a NGS24.RU correspondent that no one expected this. She had not heard that the girl was being bullied — her children have no problems with peers or teachers.

«I always thought we were living in a fool’s paradise and my children were safe. But it turned out to be the complete opposite,» the woman says.

The woman says there were no complaints about school security before. But there is no real security — retirees sit at the front desk. Meanwhile, parents are not allowed into the school without a passport and a list from the teacher. The school has a metal detector and a turnstile, but whether they work is unknown.

School No. 4 has not yet commented on the incident. The education department said the principal is currently at the school and it is unknown when she will return.

Later it became known that the attacker’s mother refused to take her home — the woman explained that there are other children in the family. Meanwhile, the Investigative Committee clarified that this was not an issue — the girl has been detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.

On February 3, the 14-year-old student brought a kitchen knife to school. She tried to stab the chemistry teacher but was stopped by classmates. Then the girl wounded a student from a parallel class — she was hospitalized, treated, and released. According to the official version, the conflict arose due to «the student’s emotional state against the background of difficult relations with other students.» Cases of attempted murder and negligence have been opened.

In comments, residents of the region came to the defense of the attacker — they write about problems with psychological help in schools and teacher rudeness.
