Foolish Overconfidence Leads to Fatal Crash Near Yekaterinburg

A video of a road traffic accident on Polevskoy Trakt near Yekaterinburg has appeared online. In the footage, a Nissan car, while overtaking, enters the oncoming lane and has a head-on collision with a Mercedes. An Audi car was also involved in the accident.

As a result of the incident, the owner of the Nissan, who was in the rear passenger seat at the time of the crash, died. The driver and four passengers of this car were hospitalized with injuries. No injuries were recorded in the Audi and Mercedes cars.

A relative of the deceased commented on the causes of what happened: «They were driving without seatbelts. The passengers were intoxicated, but the driver was sober. Just foolish overconfidence behind the wheel.»

One of the eyewitnesses described the development of events in detail: «The Nissan was overtaking traffic towards Polevskoy. It hit an Audi, and from the impact, it jumped into the oncoming lane under a Mercedes. In the Nissan, there was a group of five people, the owner of the car died. According to the Audi driver, the whole group was drunk.»

According to another witness, one of the men in the Nissan«s cabin was trapped in the front seat. To clear the aftermath of the collision, traffic on the highway was temporarily closed.
