Five teenagers die in sauna fire in Kuzbass

A fire broke out in a private sauna on Kubanskaya Street in Prokopyevsk while a group of teenagers were relaxing there. Some of them failed to leave the building in time, a source in the emergency services told NGS42 on Saturday, January 31.

According to the source, the fire started in one of the steam rooms at the «Sauna on Tsentralnaya» about an hour ago, around 8:30 p.m. A group of teenagers was present, most of whom were unable to get out.

Preliminary information indicates one girl survived and is receiving assistance.

Rescue workers and law enforcement representatives are on the scene. The cause of the incident is unknown. One version suggests the fire started due to the actions of the visitors themselves. A malfunction of electrical equipment is also being considered.

The sauna«s social media pages state that visitors could bring their own alcohol and food, with only glass containers prohibited.

Besides steam rooms, the establishment offers guest rooms and a swimming pool.
