Five Killed in Yakutia Fire, Children Among Dead

A fire broke out on the second floor of a private house in the village of Nyurbachan in the Nyurbinsky District of Yakutia. Five people died in the fire — among them children, with two in hospital, including a child. The cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit. This was reported on January 28 in the Telegram channel of the republic«s Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM).

By the time firefighters arrived, the second floor was fully ablaze and eventually burned completely. Ten personnel and two units of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.

The prosecutor«s office also went to the scene of the tragedy. The agency will oversee the investigation into the circumstances of the fire and conduct a procedural check.
