The man called emergency services on his own late in the evening on January 19, reporting he could not find his way back. The multi-hour search in the Kronstadt area concluded successfully on the morning of January 20.
As reported by the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) of St. Petersburg, the incident was caused by dense fog that covered the bay«s waters. Rescuers had earlier warned of difficult weather conditions.
The victim was discovered not far from Fort Shants. He was examined by doctors on the spot, but no medical assistance was required.
