Firefighters respond to 5-story building fire in central Volgograd

On the evening of January 21, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MChS) gathered at a 5-story building in the very center of Volgograd. According to local residents, one of the apartments in house No. 16 on Sovetskaya Street is on fire.
Readers of V1.RU sent video from the fire scene. Judging by the footage, smoke is pouring from the balcony of one of the apartments on the top floor. At least three fire trucks are standing below the building.
“Sovetskaya, 16, fire on the balcony. No one is home, neighbors called the firefighters. It seems there were no casualties, the ambulance didn«t come, and residents were not evacuated,” local residents report.
The editorial office of V1.RU is clarifying the circumstances and details of the fire with the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Volgograd Region. At the time of publication, no response had been received.
“At 18:58, a report was received about a fire in the Central District. At Chuikova Street, 11, household items were burning on the balcony over an area of 1 square meter. Fire units of the 3rd Fire and Rescue Station extinguished the fire at 19:05. There were no fatalities or injuries,” the department specified.
Earlier emergency services gathered at a high-rise on 35th Gvardeyskaya Street in the Sovetsky District. According to local residents, first MChS employees inspected the yard and area around one of the houses on 35th Gvardeyskaya Street. Later, an ambulance arrived. MChS reported: it was a false alarm. And the next day, a gathering of firefighters and ambulance employees was noticed in the Krasnoarmeysky District, near a 9-story building on Udmutskaya Street. There, an apartment caught fire. Thirty-five people were evacuated from the building. There were no casualties.
