Fire destroys building at Benchary Estate on Olkhon Island
A fire occurred on the territory of the large hotel complex «Benchary Estate» (Усадьба Бенчаровых) on Olkhon Island. Footage of the fire was published on Telegram by Viktor Serebrennikov.
The press service of the Russian Emergency Ministry«s (EMERCOM) Main Directorate for Irkutsk Region confirmed to the »IrCity« portal that a large fire took place yesterday, January 19, in the village of Khuzhir. A residential building on Kirpichnaya Street with an area of 165 square meters (about 1,776 square feet) burned down.
The emergency call to number 112 was received at 12:21. One tanker truck and three personnel worked at the scene. According to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was a short circuit in the electrical wiring.
«Benchary Estate» is indeed located on Kirpichnaya Street. At the time of the news publication, the «IrCity» portal was unable to reach the hotel complex by phone.
